Gibbs began his legendary career in the entertainment industry in the early 1970s. She was later thrown into her breakout role as the family girl Florence Johnston in The Jeffersons 1975.

“I got some ladies for me, and they said, ‘Marla, I’ve always wanted to act. Do you think it’s too late?’ I said, “Do you still be in question?” They said, “Yes, she said.
“It’s not too late. As long as you’re here and you’re still breathing,” the actress continued.
