Marla Gibbs Celebrating his productive career in Hollywood – and is ready for more!
The Jeffsons Alum, 93, received the Hollywood Legacy Award at the American Black Film Festival awards in Los Angeles on Monday 17 February for his productive career as an actress and producer. The event, founded in 2016, praises black artists who have defended diversity and inclusion and made significant contributions to American entertainment.
Gibbs was awarded with the award of Regina KingHer former NBC 227 costs. Gibbs immediately expressed his excitement over having King, 54, by his side.
“I’m also happy to be honored today. Being honored is wonderful. Especially when you are still here on the planet, ”Gibbs began his acceptance number. “I got some ladies for me and they said: ‘Marla, I’ve always wanted to act. “I have been so blessed,” she said as she admitted that she is celebrated for her work as a no-nonsense maid Florence Johnston on the groundbreaking sitcom The Jeffersons. The CBS series was broadcast from 1975 to 1985 and followed a prosperous black couple moving from Queens to Manhattan. She was nominated for Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series every year 1981-1985 for her role in the series.
After Jeffsons Ended, she then played with King in 227 from 1985 to 1990 and depicted the daily life of a middle -class black family in Washington, DC

“Tonight I’m so happy not only to have my daughter Regina, but my daughter Angela (Gibbs),” she said. Marla and her ex-husband Jordan Gibbs shared three children: Angela, 70, Dorian, 61 and Joseph.
