A hiker was found dead in Utah’s National Park over the weekend.
On one press release Shared by Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, February 2, officials confirmed that the incident occurred at the Canyon Overlook Trail in Zion National Park.
The first call came in just after 7 in the morning. Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue arrived at about 7:40 and decided the victim to be “beyond help.” Deputies arrived a short time later to confirm their results.
No other information was given, and the person’s name was not provided. However, St. George News reported that the deceased was a 37-year-old male.
National Park Service Public Affairs Specialist Matthew Fink told the outlet efforts to regain walkers the body took place around 9:30
“They only helped with recovery,” FINK said, referring to park staff. “So they were waiting to go out there until the Washington County (deputies) had the opportunity to get out there too.”
According to the outlet, although the incident is still under investigation, SGT. Lucas Alfred believes that the man’s death could have been an accident.

“We have no reason to believe that something foul play was involved at all,” Alfred said. “We think he was alone then.”
Washington County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the exact cause of death, 8 News now reported.
