A collaboration between MadonnaThe Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler Almost happened. Almost.
In a revived interview clip from a section of January 2023 of Barbra archive Podcast was divided on March 18Streisands A&R -Representative Jay Landers revealed that Madonna, 66 and Midler, 79, were considered for functions on Streisand’s album from 1993 Back to Broadway.
When I put the album’s track list together, someone suggested a reproduction of “Everything you can do I can do better” from Annie Get Your Pistol. David Foster Said a demo for the song and Landers that they asked, “Well, who could we do this with?” “And we chose Madonna and Bette (Midler). So it would be the three.”
The arrangement of Foster, 75, would highlight the different styles of each singer.
Madonna would sing “Everything you can sing, I can sing sweeter” in a disco -beat reminiscent of her style. In the meantime, Midler would call in with a brief tribute to “wind under my wings.”
“So it touched on their sound,” Landers said about the concept, calling it “really smart.”

The vision for the song was that it would take place in a public women’s room. Madonna and Midler were intended to argue and complain about each other with Streisand, 82, who came out of a stable that announced that she was there and heard the whole thing.
Everyone said yes to the concept for the song and just before the trio was united to sing, the “Hung Up” singer backed out at the last minute for unknown reasons.
“It’s one of them, fish (who) got rid of stories,” said Landers, and it is unclear whether Madonna forwarded, or any forwarded recording on her behalf. “But it would have been fun.”
