Ledisi sings powerful “lift each vote and sing” on the Super Bowl 2025

At the Apple Music Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show press conference on Thursday Ledisi said she is “overwhelmed” and “honored” to perform “Lift each vote and sing.”

“I feel that I am in line with greatness to stand at this moment and sing that song,” she added and was suffocated. The song, which was adapted from a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson, turns 125 this year.

She also talked about what was happening in her mind moment before she performed.

“I’m just going to keep thinking about this little girl from Holly Grove who cycled, singing with her family singing, moving to Oakland, then walks around the world on larger scenes and then comes back here the whole circle, at home and wants to show to show I am here here and to get that moment, Ledisi said.

She added that she is thinking about, “my grandparents, my family, my cousins, my new family … I think about family and society. And then I’m going to tell you the story.”
