Keira Knightley Tells about a “confusing” time when she was honored with an Oscar nomination for a movie and was criticized as a “terrible actress” for another.
In an interview with VanityPublished Thursday June 12, Knightley, 40, reminded of getting an Oscar nomination in 2006 for its performance as Pride and prejudice Elizabeth Bennet. But at the same time she was criticized for her achievements in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
“Yes, it was pretty big for my career. If people come to me, it will be about it,” she told the outlet about making Jane Austen-Penned heroine and adding, “Caribbean pirates Had already come out, but I think that in public consciousness I was seen as a terrible actress. ”
In the midst of criticism of her performance in the other Pirates Franchise, Knightley reminded of a sudden transition in public opinion on her actor. “But I had this phenomenally great success with Pirates. And I think this was the first to be a phenomenally great success, but was also critically acclaimed. ”
The actress continued, “so I remember it came out maybe the same year, maybe at about the same time as Pirates 2. And I got the worst reviews ever for that and then also nominated for an Oscar at the same time-it was in my 21-year-old head pretty confusing. ”

Knightley was only 20 when she got her best actress Academy Award nomination, which made her the third youngest nominees ever at that time, per Amount.
When Pike mentioned another of Knightley’s early projects, 2002’s Bend it as Beckhamsaid the actress: “I got terrible reviews for it-or at least the ones I remember, or those who, in your 17-year-old brain, actually sink in. Of course, only those who are negative. So I think it was the first time it was unequivocally positive, right?”
