The Princess of Wales made a surprise decision to carry Teal 2023, the last time she participated in the event, which was a particularly memorable ceremony as her first in the role of Honorary Chief of the Irish guards. However, there was a symbolic significance behind the appearance when Catherine Walker & Co. Teal Coat matched the plums worn in Bearskin Caps by the first battalion Irish guards. The plums were chosen because it is the color of the mantle and screen in the Order of St. Patrick.
