John Cena is nothing if not authentic.
During the 23 years since he made his Smackdown debut in 2002, the actor and WWE super star has built a Legion-fans-his cenation and an unmatched wrestling inheritance thanks to his astonishing talent, his super-positive attitude (The Athlete, which lives by the Mantraet “Never” Never “Never” Never “Never” Never “Never Give UP” twist the heel), his audience-house-input themes “The Time is Now” and his iconic “You can’t see me” Hand gesture.
While the WWE legend is sad opponent may not see cena in the ring, Neutrogenic did.
It is therefore for the debut of its Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70An light formula with an invisible finish, it invited Cena to partner.
The move resulted in “Sunscreen You Can’t See” campaign with the 16 -hour world champion (which is known to be invisible) the new sunscreen (which does not need to be seen to perform) and dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon Dr. Neera NathanThat helps to emphasize the importance of solar safety, as well as how innovative formula is.
But Cena, who is laughingly loud in the campaign, also does his part to reinforce how critical it is to use sunscreen.
State of neutrogena
“I grew up in a small town next to NewburyPort and Salisbury Beach. The mass holes call it North Shore,” explains Massachusett’s native. “Some of my earliest memories from the summer are of small carnivals and people walking on the beach.”
Cena also remembers not wearing sunscreen. “Never,” he says. “My Mom (Carol) brought up five boys And I’m pretty sure she just wanted to keep us alive and healthy. She had her hands full for sure, so I really don’t blame her. And I was born ’77, this was kind of all new knowledge. ”
At the beginning of his twenties, Cena moved from New England to Florida where he “fell in love with the sun”, but “neglected” his skin. “I was stubborn. I didn’t want a routine and I also thought the problem would never reach me. And that’s one of the things where I had lots of exposure with minimal protection and it took me up,” he reveals.
This neglect would have consequences, Cena says. “It wasn’t until I went to a dermatologist and got a skin control and got a cancer spot away from my right pec,” he shares the astonishing moment when he first began to carry sunscreen.
After taking the place New York Times The best -selling writer remembers the ominous conversation: “You have to come in again.”
“I was very lucky to have a great dermatologist as kind of, I guess for a lack of a better term, held me in my hand and let me know that I was not alone,” Cena continues. “The statistics about this is overwhelming, but as much as I learn about them, means these numbers nothing. I think the best way to hamme home a point is human-to-human connection. And I as a person can tell you: Man, the phone call is not what you want to get because it is unpredictable and you do not know how bad it will be.”
Cena continued, “a year later I went back and got another place away near my right shoulder. It pops up like a white polka -dot on the side of the chest and shoulder. If you look at wwe you can see them.”
Although the actor’s Twitter feed is full of uplifting quotes, when it faces “with some uncomfortable things,” he says, “My mind always goes to the worst case.”
With his dermatologist “coaching” him through this tough time and armed with a different mantra – “How can we get better today than we were yesterday?” – Record setting First put self -care and sun care.
“I am in a large space in my life where it is now important to me. And I am so grateful to avoid the two bullets, but I carry them as a reminder of,” Hello man, you have to take the extra seconds to protect yourself every day, “” he shares.
State of neutrogena
Cena is also “grateful to be an advocate now,” he tells People.
“The crazy thing is that this is not why the neutrogen came to me in the first place,” he says with reference to his skin cancer horror. “Neutrogen came to me because they developed this ultra pure sunscreen that is easily going on and is invisible and they wanted someone the world feels invisible.” Says Cena.
“They were like,” Hi, would you mind leaning into “you can’t see me” joke? “And I am,” would I?! “I already do it and the world understands it in Budapest, and I walk on the streets here and people put their hands in front of their face.
It wasn’t until about halfway by filming the campaign that Cena says he “was brave enough to share my story” with the team. Unaware of them before this moment, for Cena it was important that the partnership has a deeper significance. “I am very lucky to hopefully be a nozzle to get people to use sunscreen,” he says.
When it comes to his attitude towards sunscreen, Cena says from “neglect” to “mass protection.” After he got
“Some unhappy news” he “wanted the highest SPF number” he could get hold of. “That, it’s good for you, but it (leaving) a very white role. It’s like you wear medicine.” He credits the neutrogenic to help him find the right formula. “The ultra clean line has a lane for everyone,” he explains.
“When I’m at home in Florida Sun I will apply Ultra Sheer Lotion in the morning, and then I will have it Ultra pure spray Nearby because I like the convenience and the recycling process. “Once he has covered,” I know I don’t put myself in danger. And other people do not know that I wear sunscreen, which is a bonus, ”he adds the increased experience.
Cena has some viewing advice when it comes to wearing SPF: “I would say just get out of your own way.”
“If you are out there and you brush your teeth, at a young age you learned that going to the dentist when your teeth are in bad shape is bad because it’s painful. The same thing will happen if you do not take care of your skin, and it is an actual Because it’s not something you should bee you look you look more beautiful.
The star, Who ends his wrestling careerReflects on his campaign being seen in another arena.
“Never once did I imagine myself as a person for a skincare campaign,” he says. “And just because I love what I do and have passion for what I do, and I am so grateful to have the support of such a dedicated audience for so long, a very unlikely spokesman could be the spokesman for a skincare campaign. You never know who you will reach, right?”
