Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Shared an emotional moment when he participated in the funeral service in Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman And her husband Mark Hortman.
On Saturday, June 28, Biden, 82 and Harris, 60, sat in the first row at Basilican Saint Mary in Minneapolis. They were united by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
During an emotional moment in the service, the former president and vice president held his hands as they stood to recite “the Lord’s prayer” alongside other participants, as seen in a Livestream by the event shared online by WCCO.
Harris was invited to the funeral by Walz, 61, on behalf of Hortman’s’ two children, daughter Sophie, 28, and son Colin, 30, CBS news reported.

Melissa and Mark were shot and killed together with their Hundgilbert At home in Stillwater, Minn., June 14.
Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette Hoffman were also shot at home nine miles away the same day. The couple survived both shooting.
Vance Boelter has since been accused of the deadly shootings and has been accused of two bills of murder and two bills of attempted murder.
Fox 9 News Reported that Biden visited John and Yvette on Twin Cities Hospital before the funeral for Hortmans.
During his eulogi at the funeral, Walz remembered Melissa “as the most consequential speaker in the Minnesota story,” and added, “I remember her as a close friend, a mentor and the most talented legislature I have ever known.”
Speaking of the tragedy overall, he continued, “we all search for some form of meaning, some form of lesson that we can learn to facilitate our loss.”
“And maybe this is this moment, where each of us can investigate how we work together, how we talk about each other, how we are struggling for things we care about,” Walz added. “A moment when each of us can rediscover to get involved in politics and life as Mark and Melissa did: hard, enthusiastically, cordial, but without ever losing the view of our common humanity.”
The funeral service for Hortmans took place after the couple and their dog is placed in the state in Minnesota State Capitol Rotunda on Friday June 27.
