Colbert took over the show in September 2015 following David Lettermans departure. The cancellation came days after Colbert openly criticized the network’s parent company for his significant settlement with president Donald Trump.
Following the network’s announcement to cancel the popular program on July 17, several hosts on late evenings have shown solidarity for Colbert, including Kimmel and Jon Stewartthat is worthy of The Daily Show.
Immediately after the cancellation news, Kimmel divided a clip by Colbert from the broadcast on July 17. “Love you Stephen,” wrote Kimmel. He too called the network Behind the decision. “F — You and all your Sheldon’s CBS,” added Kimmel.

In a fiery statement On July 22, Stewart, 62, “if you are trying to find out why Stephen’s show ends, I don’t think the answer is in any smoke gun -e -post or phone call from Trump to CBS managers or in CBS ‘QuickBooks -Calcel blade on economic health on late night.”
He continued, “I believe the answer is in fear and preparation that grips all the US institutions right now, institutions that have chosen not to fight the vengeful and waving the documents from our pubic hair commander in Chief. This is not the moment to give in.”
