Husband tries to assure wife about work suit, now she’s angry

A man was left wondering if he made a mistake after trying to calm his wife about her outfit.

On one post To Reddits “I am A ——” the forum told the 28-year-old husband in the morning with his wife, 27, when she panicked what she would carry to a career panel at her old high school.

For starters, the original poster (OP) wrote that his wife chose a white blazer and asked him to use a tide pen to get a spot out. “But then she realized that it looked too” otentatious “and decided on it,” Op noted.

Instead, his wife tried a gray blazer with black dresses and a green top – and when she came down to show him outfit, he said “enthusiastically that she looked good,” wrote the user. “But she was not convinced and said that her pants and blazer did not match so well.”

“I tried to compliment her again and then she asked me not to lie to her,” continued OP, leaving that he tried to “be as constructive as possible” and even suggested that they could investigate getting more matching outfital “soon. ”

He then made his wife coffee, and she was ready to leave the house – but when she was on her way out the door said to her: “Remember that they are there for what you say, not for what you look like.”

“She just stared at me as if I cut her with a knife,” wrote the Reddit user. “When she went to her car she turned and said, ‘Jeez, I didn’t think I looked to Bad, ‘and went away. I tried to clarify, but she didn’t have any of it. ”

OP was left confused by the situation, he wrote in his post: “I was just trying to assure her that the students would not judge her for her clothes (a bit of desire, I guess) and would just care about what she has to say, but it Seems like my message was lost. Am I a ——? ”

In the comments, Redditors weighed in on his dilemma, many concluded that OP did not have bad intentions, but that it was not surprising that his dismissal comment was interpreted so hard.

“Maybe he has only been married for a few days if he thinks it is an ok thing to say,” wrote a Redditor.

Another agreed to add: “To know well that she did not already like her outfit selection, that comment would never land as OP intended. He is not an A ——, just forgetful. The wife is not an A —— either to take it how she did. ”

However, others suggested that they had interpreted the spouse’s statement when he thought and praised him for his care.

“As a woman, I honestly thought it was a really good reminder and I think I would appreciate hearing it right now,” a commentator chimped.

“I appreciate it too – I wonder if it was the time of the comment more than anything,” said another.

A third wrote: “You meant OP, and I thought it was adorable.”
