For Rachel Estrella, an assistant carpenter in the Oscars Red Carpet team, this is her first year that helps put together the famous carpet. Although the task requires long hours, Estrella says that she and her peers are proud to work on such a significant project.

“It’s a privilege that not many people get, so I’m very grateful,” Estella tells People.

Loralynn Battaglia, an lighting technique that has worked over the main show and Red Carpet’s Lighting team for about ten years, adds working for Oscars is both “a huge company” and “feels like a tradition.”

“It makes me proud to be a part of it,” sharing battaglia with people. “We have had the same crew now for the past five years, and we have all become good friends. Everyone works really well together and we keep it fun when possible. ”

With such extensive planning that goes into both the ceremony and its pre-show, and hundreds of dedicated team members who work around the clock to ensure that the red carpet looks best, Lewis says that the biggest challenge is one that is really out of someone’s Hand-Los Angeles weather.

“That’s what can affect the schedule, affect a budget, affect the guest experience most,” Lewis says. “It’s wind, it’s rain, it’s lightning, it’s all these things.”
