High school music director Kenny Orea revealed that he had a prediction when he filmed the film’s last musical number – and finally it was fulfilled in a great way.
Ortega spoke exclusively with people when attending the opening evening Stranger Things: The First Shadow At Broadway at Marquis Theater on Tuesday, April 22. During the conversation, the famous director, choreographer and producer recalled one of their most vibrant memories from High school music set.
“There are many of them (memories), so many of them,” said Ortega, 75. “But we filmed High School Musical 1And we filmed the finals, “We’re all in this together.” And we had all these cameras running, and the actors and dancers, and I looked into the gym and I said, “Man, if Disney does the job we do here, this will reach many people,” he says.

“And I took the role, and I put them in a circle and I said,“ Get ready. I think your lives will change. “And they remember the moment I do, he continues.” (I) had this particular prediction, this feeling that we were up to something that would mean. ”
And Ortega was not wrong. High school music became one of the most successful Disney Channel Original films of all time and launched the careers for stars like Zac EfronThe Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale. It also generated two popular follow -up films, of which the third was released in theaters in 2008 and earned over $ 250 million worldwide at checkout, per Amount.
In addition, High School Musical 3: Senior Year marked it Biggest opening weekend for a musical film until that point (although it eventually disappeared by The miserable one 2012).

Ortega also revealed one of its favorite songs from all the time from the franchise.
“Oh, yes, so I like” get your head in the game, “he says.” There are so many amazing (songs). I couldn’t even start. We had three albums and everyone just darkened everything that had ever happened to a TV soundtrack. ”
“And the authors we had worked with were of the great composer’s lyricists and worked in film and television and theater. So yes, an endless list of favorites,” he says.
