George Foreman remember his legendary stint in the ring with Muhammad Ali In one of his last post on social media before his death.
The twice heavy -weight boxmaster and the famous pitchman, as died at the age of 76 On March 21, some of his boxing anniversary celebrated during the months up to his death – including the 50th anniversary of his historic match from 1974 with the late Ali back in October 2024.
At that time, Foreman shared a festive snap on Instagram with himself with a plate of cake, as he reflected in Posten’s captions on the fight called “The Rumble in the Jungle.”
“Can you believe 50 years ago,” Rumble in the Jungle “, fight Muhammad Ali,” wrote the Olympic gold medalist. “Looking back at the best time in my life-Fig with me with a slice of cake, when I relive ‘rep-a-dope.’ ”
The struggle, which is believed to be the most watched live TV broadcast-did not necessarily have how Foreman would have wanted back in 1974.
Ali, who was 32 years old at that time, met against the younger driver, then 25, for his heavyweight title in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo)-in the end won by knockout against the then advance driver in the eighth round.
During the fight, Ali used his “rep-a-dope” strategy to lean on the ropes and tire essentially his opponent before he praised took him down.
Foreman has told us about different versions of the match over the years and noted earlier that he wished the couple had an re -match.
“For several years thereafter I would be tormented,” how could this happen? “” He told me Vogue Man Arabia 2019. “That night I lost everything I ever was. It was the most devastating event in my life as an athlete. I wasn’t even a man anymore.”
In a separate conversation with CBS newsForeman revealed that he “thought I would knock him out in one or two rounds.”

In the years that followed, Foreman and Ali became friends. Foreman eventually went from boxing in 1977 but returned to the sport a decade later and recovered his championship in 1994. He then retired for good 1999. (And in the middle of the whole he launched praised George Foreman Grill in 1994.)
On March 21, Foreman’s Family shared a message about his official Instagram account announces his death.

Among those who have paid tribute to the late boxing is the field with the colleague Mike Tysonwho shared a message into their X account.
“Condolences to George Foreman’s family. His contribution to boxing and then will never be forgotten,” wrote Tyson, 58, and shared two pictures of the couple over the years.
