Gene Simmons says no one noticed kisses when they shot the album cover “dressed to kill”

Gene Simmons Is always dressed to kill – even if the clothes do not fit completely.

The KISS Said bassist in an interview with New York Post Published on Tuesday, March 25 that when photographing their Dressed to kill Album cover 1975, no one was dazzled by their appearance.

“There we are on a street corner, and the people who pass by lasts their day, don’t even look at us twice,” he remembered.

Photographer Bob Gruen, who was behind the iconic album cover, said that the band was not known at that time, which may have contributed to the band going unnoticed.

“And in New York City you have to be more than weird to get attention. So we were standing on the corner, and basically no one stopped talking to us or looking at them or something like that.”

Simmons also shared that there were no tailors or stylists in place for the photoshoot – and he did not own a suit or tie at all.

“I did not own a suit or a tie, so I had to borrow our boss at that time Bill Aucoin’s suit,” he recalled.

Founded Simmons: “He was a much smaller man … So I put on his suit and nothing fits. If you look at the album cover, the sleeves were short and the pants did not go all the way down.”

He also did not have clothing shoes – thus the cloves that adorned the album cover. “(Kiss guitarist) Ace Frehley had a pair of white panties that he used to walk around with,” he continued, “and without any reason I took on boring that is on the cover.”

Dressed to kill turned 50 on March 19, 2025. The album included Rock Anthem “Rock and Roll All Nite” together with “Rock Bottom”, “She” and “C’mon and Love Me.”
