  • A woman wrote to the column “Dear Abby” to seek advice and share that she and her close friend of 25 years had fallen over her friend’s wedding several years ago

  • When her friend never answered she stopped skipping the wedding, and the two have not talked to each other since

One woman says she was haunted by her close friend of 25 years – and it all started over wedding accommodation.

The woman shared her story in a letter to “Dear Abby” columnPublished by New York Post. She explained that she and her former friend Carla have not “talked for several years” after Carla’s son’s wedding, where she asked for “free accommodation.”

The woman found that the dress code for the event was “cocktail upholstery” and the arena was “one and a half hours” away from where she lives and she does not drive. At that time, she experienced “financial difficulties” and was worried about her attire and coming to the arena.

She shared that she told Carla that she had no way to get to the wedding on her own and that an Uber would cost about $ 200. “I hoped I could ride with her,” she wrote.

“The family had room at the hotel where the wedding was held. I hoped she would offer that I could go with her and stay with her at the hotel,” the woman continued. “She didn’t offer, so I didn’t attend.”

After her no-show in the wedding, Carla did not return her calls, and the two have not spoken since.

“I miss her terribly,” the woman admitted. “After all this time, would it be wrong to contact her again, or should I just release it? I have been upset about the situation for several years. I would love your opinion.”

“Abby” – alias council columnist Abigail van Buren – responded by noting that “wedding can be complicated business”, and suggested that it was likely that Carla had been “stressed and distracted” due to “the number of guests and all activities related to the wedding at the hotel.”

“Having expected she would give you transport and share her room with you may have been regarded as prospective,” pointed out van cage.

She told the Council’s applicant that if she wants to hear her friend’s side of things and “get some closing”, she should “reach out” to Carla and clear the air.
