Several former Miss France competitions have stated that allegedly being sexually attacked in the middle of their time in the competition in an explosive new book.
In the recently released Miss France: From dream to reality (Miss France: From dream to reality) by author Hubert Guérin, dozens of former competitors and regional elected officials opened about the sexual violence they are alleged to meet, Per French newspaper Ouest-France.
Guérin – who served as deputy of the competition’s former president, Geneviève de Fontenay – wrote about the alleged abuse in the release, according to Britain’s newspaper The times.
“It went from a hand on the bottom or chest to rape or forced oral sex,” the author said according to the outlet.
The book is 489 pages long, with author Guérin who wants to “highlight the history of the competition beyond the glitter”, according to Paris.

Miss France talked about claims in a press release obtained by people. The message was signed by the President of the Miss France Society, Frédéric Gilbert.
The organization stated in the announcement that it had become aware of the reported charges of “sexual violence and violations” about the integrity of the candidates, which was alleged to take place between 1990 and 2002.

Society insisted that if the facts were proven, it would “deeply touch us all”, adding that “some form of sexual violence, abuse or harassment is unacceptable.”
“If these accusations have proven to be true, we express our solidarity and full support for the victims,” noted the publication and adds, “Miss France Society wants to confirm that the competition celebrates women with respect, dignity and kindness.”
The alleged attackers and victims have not been named in the book Per The times.
A former beauty queen was quoted in the publication, “I was a victim of rape during my year as Miss France,” according to the outlet.
Another said alleged: “I was raped a few hours after being chosen as Miss France: In my room I was pressed against the bed, called every name under the sun and my dress is torn off,” pronounced the paper.

Camille Cerf, who was Miss France in 2015, was among those who commented on the publication on social media and wrote in a X post“I’ve never talked to Hubert Guérin, what he says about me is false and completely manufactured.”
“His words are very serious and I’m not going to let him do this,” she added. “During my year and during these ten years the Miss France organization has always protected me.”
Sylvie Tellier, who was Miss France in 2002 and previously served as national head of the company, said she had not heard of sexual abuse within the organization while she was there, according to RTL.
“If during my 15 years at the helm in Miss France, I had been informed of harassment, sexual abuse, the first thing I would have done is to encourage them to submit a complaint,” she said according to the outlet.
Said Valérie Claisse, who was Miss France in 1994, “during my time the misses were less well protected than today … I hope the book will encourage people to speak out and submit legal complaints,” according to The times.
Verone Éditions, who published the book, has not responded to people’s request for comment from Guérin about CERF’s claims.
