“It kicks and screams,” Estevez said about its possible agreement to participate. “This is something that I … using the word” avoid “is not the right word to use, it just has not been top in the mind.”
He continued: “I have praised rejected reunions, whether it was a Repo reunion or one Outsider reunion or Saint Elmo’s. I have been very blessed to be part of these amazing ensembles for films that have kinds of exceeding generations. It is a blessing on the one hand, but then it is, okay, the movie had an impact, and it continues to. So that’s why there must be a reunion. ”
Estevez said that reunions are just “not my thing”, noting that his lack of participation in previous years was not personal. But he said he became “emotional” to see his former comrades at the event.

“I’ve said this before. I’ve always wanted to look and move forward,” he said somewhere else in the conversation. “I have … never wanted to look in my back mirror and talk about what I have done. If you go into my house, don’t you know what I do for a living. Right? Because there are no movie posters. There are no memorabilia.”
Estevez added that his previous work may have defined him, but the projects he took on were not necessarily “a choice”.
He continued: “There are 200 auditions that you go to before you get into that list of the last three. And then you are the guy … I was very lucky to be in Outsider and Breakfast club and FireAll ensembles. And people assume it was a choice. It wasn’t. ”
Estevez – who played athletes Andrew Clark in the movie – talked about his previous absence from Cast reunions under the panel and said, “I felt I needed to do it for myself.”
The actor also explained that the reunification felt “special” given the position of the Convention because the film was praised at a high school in the Chicago suburbs.
