A driver caused chaos in Ohio when they came to a complete stop on a busy highway after missing an off-ramp.
About 17:25 Local time on Wednesday, April 30, the driver of a red minivan traveled in the middle lane in a threefelt stretch of Interstate 71 south in Columbus when they stopped in the middle of the highway, Columbus Dispatch and Fox 8 reported.
Images that are shared on X By the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) seemed to show that the vehicle had missed its exit, as it had its turn signal and seemed to wait for the right lane to be clear for it to be merged.
The video showed several vehicles driving around the minivan in the lane on each side. The multi-vehicle crash then occurred when a large silver car crashed in two other vehicles that stopped behind the stopped Red Minivan.
“Don’t be this driver,” Odot wrote on X, along with his clip of the event.
When the pile began, the driver of the red minivan fled on stage at I-670, according to Fox 8.
Matt Bruning, press secretary for Odot, told the outlet that they decided to release the video to train other drivers about what they would not do.
“They quit because they missed their exit or the exit they just passed and that’s the worst thing you can do on a highway,” Bruning told Fox 8.
