President Donald Trump said he believes former president Jimmy Carter “Death a happy man” – but it was not exactly a polite comment in context.
During an oval office meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on April 17, Trump shared comments on two former US presidents, Carter and former president Joe Biden. Carter, who was The longest living US presidentDied on December 29 at the age of 100.
“The last administration, the only thing they were good at was cheating in elections. That was all they could do,” claimed Trump and repeated a debunked lie that Biden stole the election in 2020. “They could not do anything. They were worthless. They were incompetent – worst administration in our country’s history.”

Then Trump Carter brought into the conversation and said that the last administration was “worse than Jimmy Carter.”
“Jimmy Carter died a happy man,” Trump continued. “You know why? Because he wasn’t the worst. President Joe Biden was.”

Trump shared similar comments on Carter’s 100th birthday on October 1, claiming that Carter was “the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president” compared to Biden.
Although Carter was a Democrat, Republican politicians interrupted party departments to honor their historical birthday.
Days after Carter’s death and more than two weeks before Trump took office for his second term-expressed, Trump frustration for US flags to fly half-staff during his inauguration.

Weeks later, Carter spoke again against Trump. In an interview with CBS newsCarter said Trump is “sloppy with the truth.”
“I think it is well known that the incumbent president is very careless with the truth,” Carter said. “I think I went through my campaign and my presidency without ever lying to the people or making a conscious false statement, and I think it would be a very valuable thing to reintroduce in politics today.”
