The Arizona authorities said they saved a small dog that refused to leave their dead owner’s side.

The dog was rescued by Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (CCSO SAR) after they received a tip that the dog was discovered in Arizona Wilderness on July 6, 12 News Reports.

“The cute little puppy is currently in a shelter,” wrote CCSO SAR in a Facebook post. “This is not the first time rescue team saved pets that stayed with their owner.”

Rescuers are still not sure how the dog and its deceased owners got there, but the dog stopped near the owner’s vehicle. The dog had been there for a while, but the authorities are uncertain about how long, 12 news reports.

The distant area where the rescuers found the dog was several miles from Muleshoe Ranch, CCSO SAR wrote on Facebook.

When the rescuers arrived, the dog ran away, which made it difficult for them to help the animal. But they eventually got the dog and took it to protection.

CCSO SAR’s posts included pictures of team members that helped with rescue efforts, as well as pictures of them with the little gray puppy.

“This really shows the devotion and love that a pet has for its person,” CCSO Sar continued. “Thank you for saving this little puppy.”

The dog owner’s cause of death has not been released.

A man named John Merten wrote in the comment episode that he came across the dog hours before the rescue team arrived. He said he was trying to approach the scared animal.

“He seemed to be in good shape,” wrote Merten. “I feel terrible for what that dog endured.”

The man said he left the dog a sandwich and some water.

Others in the comment section offered their prayers and condolences for the family’s family’s family, while asking if the puppy would be posted for adoption.
