For decades, Sean “Diddy” Combs Reigned as the world’s most hilarious showman. But now the 55-year-old besieged the Mogul host as much as $ 1 billion just three years ago-moving with a little fanfare through the maze of corridors and rooms that form the federal legal system, his once black hair and beard faded to gray.
Eight months later arrested in the lobby Of a five-star Manhattan hotel, the man now comes as Inmate 37452-054 on trial in court in the southern district in New York on racketeering, sex trafficking and other accusations of accusations that he abused many people throughout his life. The jury choice will start on May 5 and the procedure is expected to last for eight weeks.
However, Combs has remained despite and denies all errors. “(That’s) sorry … I’m puff dad in jail,” he told Kanye West in a leaked call behind bars In March. Long known for its high flying, champagne-popping lifestyle, Comb has been limited to 4 north-a fourth storey dormitory in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn which he shares with about 20 other men.
Inside, Combs holds a low profile. He meets regularly with his legal team and pores of evidence from prosecutors on a prisoner laptop without Wi-Fi access. After successfully delaying the trial by two months, Combs will soon meet a jury. If they judge him in the most serious charges, he could go to prison for 15 years or even life, even if the maximum judgment would be unlikely.
“This is a very strong case for the prosecution,” says lawyer and former federal prosecutor Mohammed’s Rahmaniwhich is not involved in the case. “The large number of victims, years and patterns of abuse and the electronic evidence that affect combs make this a challenging case to defend,” adds Rahmani.
Since the first wave of shocking criminal bills, was unseen against chambers in September 2024, federal prosecutors have updated the prosecution against him three separate times. He is currently facing five crimes, including sex trafficking, racketeering and transport to conduct prostitution, and has not relied on.
“I expect a long struggle with a good result,” said his lawyer Marc Agnifilo before, tells people That cams are “an incomplete person but … not an criminal.”
Prosecutors paint a darker portrait of Music Presario that became as well known for his rap career as for his A-lists and his many brands, from Ciroc to Sean John. The authorities show him as leader of a violent company tied to suspected kidnapping, murder, drug crime and widespread sexual abuse. According to the indictment, Combs and his co -workers are accused of attracting victims with promises of romance and then used violence, threats and coercion to force them into sex documents on so -called “Freak off” parties.

The government’s lead white and Comb’s ex-partner, Cassie Ventura38, identified in court documents such as victim 1, prepares to take a stand and testify with names of what she ostraled during their on-and-off relationship from 2007 to 2018.
In November 2023 she handed in A lawsuit for sexual abuse against combs, which was decided outside the court in just one day-started a constantly growing list of public accusers. Six months later, in May 2024, CNN published pictures from a security camera At the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles showing Ventura fleeing from a room, just to be attacked by Combs, which is seen as wearing a white towel around the waist and socks. He then grabs her in his throat, throws her on the floor and kicks her violently and grabs her purse and suitcase, shows the video.
When Ventura is moving, the Combs kicks her again and pulls her back to the room before he releases and goes away. The moment later, the pictures show, he sits in a chair, takes an object from a table and strongly throws it against her.
He apologizes after the video was released and said, “I was disgusted then when I did, I’m disgusted now.” On Sunday, May 19, 2024, Combs Shared the statement via an Instagram videoCaptions with the words: “I’m really sorry.”
“It’s so hard to reflect on the darkest times of your life,” said the rapper in the Instagram video. “Sometimes you have to do it. I was f —
ed up. I mean I meet the rock bottom but I do not make any excuses. My behavior on that video is unforgivable. ”
His lawyers tried and failed to have the clip excluded from the trial and claimed it was “substantially” edited, which CNN is denied.
At least two other persons will testify to the prosecution according to pseudonyms and will assert abuse of combs, court documents show.
When it comes to Combs will testify, his lawyer has said it is possible. “I don’t know I could keep him away from the stand,” Agnifilo said in the documentary Diddy’s downfall. “He is very keen to tell his story.”
Legal analyst Rahmani says it would be a dangerous move. Witnessing would be subject to cams for cross investigation and make his words allowed in more than 60 waiting civil cases. More generally, Rahmani expects Comb’s defense will claim that his accusers are motivated by “fame, money or revenge” and challenge their credibility.
But “When several victims testify that Comb’s physically and sexually attacked them,” says Rahmani, “it will be difficult for the defense to claim that it was all consensus. Adults can consent to sexual activity no matter how freaky it is, but the victims may have been forced by force or could not consent because they were under the influence of drugs.”
Regardless of what develops in the courtroom in Manhattan, Rahmani believes that the odds are stacked against combs. “I expect him to be sentenced,” he says, “and spends decades in prison.”
