The Two actresses and real sisters Will produce sisters in Tristar Pictures adaptation by Kristin Hannah’s best-selling novel Nightingale. On Tuesday, July 22, the film’s Instagram account published a photo of the book next to the film’s script and noted that the film will be released in 2027.
“Can we buy tickets now?” Read the caption. “For the first time ever, the sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning will start in a movie together, in the adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s global book phenomenon The Nightingale. Directed by Michael Morris, #thenightingalemovie comes exclusively to theater on February 12, 2027.”

Nightingale follows two sisters who come age in France before the Second World War and their struggle to survive the German occupation of their country.
“The Nightingale will be the first time we act on the screen together, ”the actresses said in a statement to Hollywood Reporter When the project was first announced. “We have played the same character of different ages but have never talked to each other in front of a camera. For several years we have been looking for a movie to do with each other and then this gem appeared.”
The statement continued, “as sisters, to share our artistry with each other while raising such a powerful sister history is a dream come true. We are so lucky to have our fearless director, Melanie Laurent, to guide us on the trip. Let’s do this, sister!”
The project will be produced by Elizabeth Cantillon for Cantillon Company, Dakota and Elle Fanning and Brittany Kahane Ward for Lewellen Pictures, and Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine.

In June, Dakota, 31, talked about his special band with Elle, 27, in an interview with Formsays They are “really close.”
“We’ve always been. We’re very different, but we’re very connected,” Dakota said. “We don’t talk every day, but we don’t need. We just have the special bond.”
She added, “There is no one that I want to succeed more in this business than my sister, and I know she wants the same thing for me.”
