Costco announces exclusive shopping windows for executive members

Costco introduces only a new benefit to a selected group of members.

The food chain recently announced the Instagram That as of June 30, shoppers with the more expensive executive membership “can start shopping as early as” 9 am local time every day, and they will have the store for themselves for up to an hour before other customers. (Saturday is the only exception, with the exclusive window that lasts until 9:30, rather than 10:00)

After the company announced the news, the Costco customers were quick to share their confusion – and other thoughts – about the new benefit in the comments in the social media post.

Another asked, “It’s not already open at 9? Does that mean the store will be closed to ordinary members to 10?”

In response, the chain clarified that later this month, those who have the membership with a lower level Gold Star will cost half of the annual price of $ 130 for the executive membership-to lose an hour shopping time in the mornings at Costco sites that already have an opening from 9 AM.

“Some of our American warehouses that are currently open at 9 o’clock will start on June 30 and reserve this time only for executive members,” the company wrote. “All members will be welcome to shop from 10 on Monday to Friday and Sunday and 9:30 am Saturday.”

“Ok so in principle you punish the people who do not want to give you $ 65 more,” wrote a user in response to Costco’s announcement and added that the new benefit “promotes” its customers.

“It should be for all members,” commented on another user on the post, while another wrote: “Is that what the first class passengers on Titanic felt like?”

Costco did not immediately respond to people’s request for comment on Sunday June 22.

The food chain’s Gold Star membership has an annual membership fee of $ 65, while the executive membership calls at a price of $ 130 per year. This cost is divided into the base level “$ 65 membership fee, plus $ 65 upgrade fee”, per costcos Website.

The Gold Star membership covers the company’s membership card, which allows shoppers from the same household to shop at all Costco places all over the world. The executive membership includes the card, plus additional benefits and rewards.

The company also announced on Instagram On June 21, the executing membership holders will soon receive “a $ 10 monthly credit to use on a eligible Sameday.costco.com or Costco via the Instacart order over $ 150.”

This change will be introduced on June 30, the same day as the exclusive morning trading window.
