China insisted on personal data is secure from the government’s involvement as they responded to Tiktok’s CEO SHOU ZI Chew’s behavior before the US Congress.
Beijing, China – Beijing on Friday rejected accusations that private companies were forced to release personal data to Chinese government, in response to a extended and tense hearing By Tiktok’s CEO Shou Zi chews before the US Congress.

Neither companies nor individuals had ever been forced to forward information about data or intelligence service from other countries, said a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in Beijing. This would not change in the future either, she added.
“The US administration has not provided any evidence of that Tiktok Threatens US national security, ”insisted spokesman.
Accusations were instead made repeatedly and the company was placed under inappropriate pressure, she added.
The official urged the United States to respect the principles of market economy and competition.

Chew met distrust and skepticism from legislators at a hearing before the US Congress lasted almost five hours on Thursday.
In a rare show of unity, Democrats and Republicans insisted that measures taken by the social media company to secure the data from its US customers were insufficient.
The Tiktok manager had tried to convince the legislators of the company’s data security principles with a plan called “Project Texas.” According to this plan, data from US users would be stored on servers in the United States and access to it would be limited and checked.
Senior Democrat Frank Pallone described the plan as “simply not acceptable.”
