Brooks & Dunn is on their way back on the road but focuses on songwriting (exclusively)

Brooks & Dunn Had a heck of a 2024.

Not only was the best -selling country duo of all time to ride on another wave of resuscitation driven by their somewhat surprise Win for this year’s Vocalduo At the CMA Awards in November, but also found that the music from their past is again celebrated with permission of their album Robot II.

We had no Plans to do it again, “Brooks & Dunn’s Kix Brooks, 69, told People about the first conversations about a follow-up to their ultra-successful 2019 album Restart, which is included collaborations with artists such as Kane BrownThe Thomas Rhett and Cody Johnson. “We were just thinking, ‘to Be cool and to Be successful and to Be good and I’m glad it worked, “but it was about it.”

But eventually, talk about a follow -up of Restart Reignited, especially considering the success of renewed album cuts such as “Neon Moon”, a crazy popular collaboration with Kacey musgraves. And while Restart Certainly produced the best of the artists that are on it, says Brooks & Dunn that they were ready to take things even longer Robot IIwhich was released last fall.

“This time we entered the studio and wrapped them,” Remember Brooks & Dunn’s Ronnie Dunn71, in an interview with People about the open creative direction waiting for the artists for their latest album. “You choose your song, you take the approach and we go with you where you want to go. No rules.”

This setting without Guardreils took the pressure from everyone involved, a pressure that the legendary duo put in their back mirror long ago. “We are not worried about radio rules or whatever,” says Dunn. “If they wanted a guitar player in 16 or 32 bars, let’s go.”

In fact, the award-winning country duo encouraged the artists to bring their own ties to the table and followed in the footsteps to what Musgraves had done before Restarts version of “Neon Moon.”

“Our producer (Dann Huff) had a good studio band composed for us if that was what the action wanted to do, but in principle, if they did not want to do it and they had a band they loved, they took them in there,” explains Brooks.

And so they did just that. Marcus King brought in their own band for “Rock My World (Little Country Girl)” and Gelé reel Literally packed the studio that brought in a 70-part orchestra and a 30-person choir for “faith.” “It was like a seminar with endless creativity,” says Brooks from the album recorded for a year.

In many ways, Brooks & Dunn admits that they were only on the ride. “We had to hang on and jump in and come prepared for anything,” recalls Dunn.

But even they were not prepared to hear what came out of Megan Moroney On “Ain’t Nothing” about you. “” (Megan) was out and toured with us for two years I think, and we have never heard that voice come out of her – the hungry, sexy voice, “says Brooks.” It felt like she had been up on a three -day Bender smoking camel cigarettes. They had already had that idea and had everything that worked. ”

And as much as Brooks & Dunn respected an artist who turned the song on his head, so they also respected when artists got pretty much stuck to the original – for example Morgan Wallenversion of “Neon Moon.”

“He said he didn’t want to move with it,” Brooks says. “I guess in his opinion it was already done.”

And while the land duo is set on Map of its neon moon tour on March 13 In Lubbock, Texas with more open David Lee Murphy, Dunn and Brooks are both agreed that there are some other things in their minds for 2025.

“We have to stop and remind ourselves that we are a songwriter and we have to play with it a bit,” Dunn concludes. “So we’ll come back and forth with some other things.”
