A bride says that a special memorial from her wedding was destroyed by “unsurprisingly” children at the reception.
The bride shared in one post On Reddit’s “Wedding” forum which she had planned to make a wooden puzzle instead of a “regular guestbook” where the guests each would sign a puzzle piece during the reception, which was held “a couple of days ago.”
She said that the puzzle would then be put together and mounted on a wall “so we could see all the people who were there to celebrate with us.” But somewhere along the line during the wedding things went wrong.
“Unfortunately, a couple of guests streamed all night instead of looking at their children,” she wrote. “When I got home and put together the puzzle, I saw that the children not only signed 20 pieces with their own names, but they also wrote on pieces that were already signed by other guests as well as the large piece for the middle that have our name and event date.”

She then shared that she “desperately tried to find out how to get Sharpie out of wood” to fix the guest book puzzle. After the frustrating incident, the bride said, she has now sworn to let the children participate in another special event of her.
“Trust and believe, this will be my first and last child -friendly event,” she concluded her post.

In the comments, several Redditor offered various solutions and ways to prevent this from happening in the future, including a person who wrote: “You have accidentally given me a tip: Make sure my guest book is on a cocktail height table so that the children cannot reach it.”

Another person asked how big the puzzle pieces were and if she could possibly “send a new one with thank you (notes) and an extra stamp/tripped envelope for guests to send back” after signing.
They added, “I know you shouldn’t have to do all this, but if it means so much to you it may be worth it.” The bride responded to the comment, “I hadn’t thought about it. We have some extra pieces, so it can actually work! Rect. ”
Other people suggested painting over the pieces damaged by the children’s signatures “with the colors” in the bride’s wedding. The bride noted that while “painting over them would not be so bad”, she could not figure out “how to get the scribble out otherwise.”
She added, “This was just not in my plans. 😩 I’m ready to abandon it completely at this time. “
