Ghey came out as a trans at the age of 14 and had “dreamed of being tictoc famous”, said Daily mail. Spoken to The custodianHer mother, Esther, said she supported the transition. “It didn’t bother me,” she said. “It was just something that Brianna wanted to do and I was happy. As long as she was happy, that’s all that mattered.”
But friends said she was bullied for several years without intervention. She was “bullied and gang beaten for several years for the simple reason to be trans” said a friend The sun.
Brianna was found with several stab wounds in Linear Park in Culcheth, a village located between Liverpool and Manchester, February 11. Her body was discovered by dog hikers.
After the news about the murder was released to the media, the family told Ghey that they had been “overwhelmed” by “support, positivity and compassion” from all over the country, police say.
What has the court heard so far?
A plan to kill Ghey was found in the bedroom for one of 16-year-olds accused of her murder, the court has heard.
Two teenagers, called Girl X and Boy Y, are accused of murdering Ghey.
Deanna Heer KC, charged, told the jury that on February 3, Girl X Boy Y sent a picture of a handwritten note on the way: “Saturday 11 February 2023. Offer: Brianna Ghey.”
The document continued to suggest that the couple go to the park with Ghey and both knit her before she covered her body with logs. Heer said, “It’s clear, says the prosecution, a plan to kill Brianna Ghey.”
Ghey was stabbed 28 times with a 13 cm hunting knife that the boy Y had bought six weeks earlier, heard the court. “Many of the stickers had caused damage to her legs, including her sternum and her ribs, and would have required significant force to cause,” Heer said. “There is no doubt that she was a victim of a sustainable and violent abuse.”
The court has also heard that the teenage girl who was accused of murdering Ghey published an online tribute to her after the murder and said she was “such an amazing friend”. Girl X published the tribute on Snapchat and said: “Brianna was one of the best people I have ever met and such an amazing friend is so f ** king ill who got her.”
Girl X had an interest in serial murder, including Jeffrey Dahmer and Harold Shipman, heard the jury. She told Boy Y that she had killed two people before, but there is no evidence to indicate that she had committed other murders, heard the court. Yet, said Heer, messages recovered from the phones by Girl X and Boy Y showed a “busy” with “violence, torture and death,” said BBC.
Both defendants accept that they were with Ghey when she was killed but “each blame on the other,” Heer said. “The prosecutor’s case is that whoever was delivering the deadly battle or blow, both defendants are equally guilty.”
The trial, which is expected to last between three and four weeks, continues.
