A young father grief after his wife died and their 4-year-old son was injured after a boat accident in a Florida waterway.
In the evening on Sunday, June 15, two boats in Bayou Sara collided near Saraland, which caused 27-year-old Brittney Sherman to fall overboard and injure 30-year-old Cody Sherman and a 4-year-old boy, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (Alea) said in a statement shared with people. The injured parties, which were later revealed to be the woman’s husband and son, were hospitalized.
It was not until just before 11 o’clock the next day that Brittney’s body was found 100 meters where she fell into the water after a hour long, multi-agency search, says officials.
According to Alea, Brittney was “deadly injured” when 20-foot eager center console vessels she and her family members were on “beat” a 26-foot regulator center console vessel. Both boat operators 19-year-old Robert T. LOVON, who ruled the smaller boat, and 52-year-old Jerry Hocutt Jr., who was at the helm for the 26-foot large ship-injured.
An investigation by Aleas Marine Patrol Division is ongoing. Mobile County Medical Examiner’s Office refused to give further comments.
Brittney was the mother of four children, confirmed family members to CBS affiliate Wkgr. Now her husband, Cody, is struggling with the prospect of raising the children without her.
“Brittney I love you more than anything in this world,” Cody wrote on Facebook after his wife’s body was recovered. “I promise to take care of these kids to you, honey! I know you’re up there and watching over us.”

“Please show me how to do this,” added Cody, who did not immediately respond to people’s request for comment. “I’m not sure how to do it and I will do my best to make you proud. I love you until we meet again !!”
That morning, just before 10 o’clock, the mourning father also asked for prayers for his injured son.
“All please pray for my boy will make a complete recovery,” Cody wrote on Facebook. “This little boy is the toughest person I’ve ever met. Dad loves you and we’ll get through this !!”
