The black box from the Army Black Hawk -Helicopter as Crashed into American Airlines Flight 5342 January 29 has been recovered, according to officials.
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed that the Sikorsky flight data recipient has been found with “no external damage” and is now inspected by the authorities.
NTSB member Todd Inman said at a press conference on Friday 31 January, “We have recovered Sikorsky Black Box, it is certainly at NTSB’s head office (where) it will start an evaluation … to decide when and how to take Measures, “Per Palm Beach Post.
“… from a visual inspection we saw no external damage that would indicate that it was compromised at this time, so we have a high confidence that we will be able to have a complete extraction,” he added.
It was previously shared at the press conference that two separate recorders were also recovered from the American Airlines plane that was involved in the crash, with one that is said to be in “good condition” for information collection, according to Inman.

Inman said in another update during the press conference on Friday 31 January that the process of recovering the bodies from the crash site continues.
“Navy Survage Survage is currently carrying out the rescue operations,” he said. “Tråmar is on its way from Virginia Beach and we expect them to be on stage early (Saturday) morning.”

The official confirmed that “two distinct junk fields” have now been located, where the area that supports the helicopter is “a little bigger” than the plane.

He also shared that officials will investigate the staffing on the day of the crash and they will examine the controller’s behavior, especially for 72 hours before the crash, per BBC.
