Barbara Alyn Woods rejected another role in taking a chance at ‘One Tree Hill’

Barbara Alyn Woods originally would not be on One Tree Hill for more than three sections.

Woods, 63, revealed its character, Deb Scott, was not intended for long during a performance on Drama women podcast, host of previously cost Bethany Joy Lenz and Robert Buckley.

“What was the kind of initial concept of debt? How big were you supposed to have, and what did it look like?” Buckley asked.

“Deb was an arc with three episodes,” confessed Wood’s shock from both Buckley and Lenz.

Although she was planned for just a short stint on the show, Woods said she took a big leap of faith, Hope that showrunners can change.

“I was at another show at the same time, not a regular, but a recurring role in LA,” reminded Woods. “I knew it One Tree Hill Wanted me in three episodes. I was in love with this character. I was in love with the show, writing. ”

“I don’t think I looked into the future that I would be there longer than three episodes, but I really wanted the three episodes,” she added. “I had to choose between the two programs. And the second show might have taken me longer. I had to choose and I chose A tree hill, Knowing that there were only three episodes. ”

While Woods did not nam the second show she discussed, she was particularly working on Providence and American dreams About the same time.

Her intersections were right, and of course fans of teenage drama know that she stayed in much more than just three episodes.

“They extended, and I never went home,” she remembered. “So after three sections they said: ‘Well, they want to keep you here.’ So I didn’t even packed for it.

Woods, Lenz and Buckley joked that the direction of her character changed from “boring” to a “precautionary” as the series continued. Woods, however, said “it was so much fun” to play a character that went a little from the rails.

“My theory is that the authors at One Tree Hill Really wrote for us when they taught us, “Woods said.” Maybe wrote to our strengths, maybe added some comedy or not, and maybe trying to press some buttons, some emotional buttons where we didn’t want them. ”
