A bakery owner has been arrested in the Philippines after claiming seven of his colleagues to death after his birthday party, according to reports.

On Tuesday, April 22, at about 7:40 Local Time, the authorities responded to reports of a “horrible multiple murder” at a bakery located in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City, Rizal Police Provincial Office said in a news message split on Facebook.

“Upon arrival, seven lifeless male individuals were found in the bakery. The first results indicate that all victims were employed in J&B Malunggay Bakery and lived in the premises. The victims seem to have been attacked while they slept,” said police in the post.

The suspect has since been identified as Bogart Ramirez, 32, who is accused of killing the victims after allegingly hired them planned to stifle him in sleep, the Associated Press reported.

Ramirez gave the men alcohol to drink at their birthday party, “before they killed (them) one by one with a knife while being reduced,” pronounced the outlet.

The police were called by a neighbor after hearing one of the men who shouted for help, the news agency reported.

Without naming the suspect in the Facebook post on April 22, Rizal Police said Provincial Office: “About 9:00 the same day, the suspected was arrested at the base police, head office Support Service of the Philippine National Police (PNP).”

“He was subjected to standard physical and medical examinations and is currently under police care,” added Tuesday’s post.

“The motive behind this abominable crime remains during investigation. The authorities are investigating all possible angles, including the potential commitment to further suspects,” the police were granted.

According to AP, the suspect said from custody: “I handed over because I have nowhere to go anyway. If I leave town, they will still catch me. After leaving the bakery, I went to the head office of the Philippine National Police.”

“I heard that they were planning to suffocate me to death with a pillow while I was asleep, so when my wife arrives the next day it would look like I had died of a nightmare,” the suspect according to the news agency.

“There are two of us who are partners at the bakery, and all other workers are his relatives. They tried to go up on me. If I die, the whole business will be his, so I decided to act first,” continued the suspect, who was noted by the outlet.

According to AP, the police are looking for other people who may have been involved in the crime.

Local police’s Colonel Felipe Maragn said: “We are not satisfied that he is the only suspect. It is possible that he has an accomplice, and we are looking at that angle. We are not satisfied with his version of the events, but we will look at the evidence we collect,” reported the news agency.
