Thursday, July 10, the Western Australia Police Force confirmed on Facebook that officers had discovered 26-year-old Carolina Wilga’s abandoned vehicles around 13:10 local time in the Karrun Hill area, in the northeastern wheat region in western Australia (WA).
Mitsubishi Delica, run by Wilga, who has backpacking around Australia for the past two years, “is believed to have suffered mechanical problems,” police say in the post.
“Carolina Wilga was not on the scene. The search to find her continues, with additional resources being placed to the area,” the police raised on Thursday.

Wa police acting inspector Jessica Securo told Australian broadcasting company‘S (ABC) Radio Perth on Friday that officers think she is “likely” to “have been lost in that area and have potentially gone away from her vehicle.”
“The terrain – it’s Outback Country and there are big rocky outcrops, so even if there are a number of tracks, you can see how it would be easy to get lost or disoriented,” added Securo to the outlet.
“Her vehicle was at least about 35 kilometers (about 22 km) inward from all the main tracks, so it’s tight there,” she continued.

Wilga, from Germany, was last seen with friends on Sunday, June 29. She was seen arrived at a store in the small town of Beacon, about 200 miles east of Perth, about 12:10 local time the same day in her van and left the area about five minutes later. She has not seen or heard from since, the police confirmed.
Wilga’s abandoned van was discovered about 62 miles north of where she was last seen, ABC noted.

In the middle of the ongoing search on Friday, inspector Securo said that Wilga’s vehicle may have stuck, according to the outlet.
“We have a forensic contingent out there this morning, and they will be able to make a better assessment of the vehicle and its capacity for that area,” she continued. “The car is obviously self -sufficient … she has solar panels, she has water in the vehicle.”
“It is only the vehicle itself cannot be mechanically used,” added Securo.

The police have investigated whether Wilga took something from his van and said that there is currently no evidence of Foul Play, ABC reported.
“It’s hard to say how much she has taken, we know she planned to travel through regional WA and do a little explore there,” Securo told Radio Perth.
“Part of my team at Major Crime Division will go through the vehicle and carefully cover what was in the vehicle, what we believe is outstanding. And it can help to direct our search in a particular area,” she added.
Wilga’s family, which she regularly speaks, has not heard from her since June 18, Per 9NEWS.
The missing backpacker had also been discovered about 16:30 on Saturday, June 28, which is the day before she was last seen, visited a convenience store in the Outback city Todyay, before traveling to the Dowerin area, the police wrote earlier on Facebook.
“Miss Wilga is described as being of German origin, by a narrow building, with long wavy brown hair and brown eyes. She has several tattoos, including one showing symbols on her left arm,” read the post.
Officier believes that Wilga’s phone has been turned off, per Western Australians.
The police have urged someone with any information or drone images in the Beacon area or the surrounding northeastern wheat area, which was shot between June 29 and 4 to get in touch and upload the images.
Western Australia Police did not immediately answer when contacted by persons for further information.
