Actress Yaya Dacosta breaks her silence after Tyra banks addressed criticism of her show America’s next top model at a new price exhibition.
The former Antm Competitors, 42, shared a long video that responded to the bank’s speech at the Essence Black Women in the Hollywood Awards, where the supermodel admitted that the show did not always “got it right” and she may have “said some stupid S —” on it, but it “opened it the door for others to follow.”
Several old clips from the series started surface treating online in 2020, which led to a wave of negative feedback aimed at both banks and the show’s creative team. A clip showed that banks told a contestant that she would “fix” a gap in her teeth, while another contained a now controversial “Race Swapping” challenge Where some competitors modeled in Blackface.
In his video, Dacosta recognized these public critics from AntmEspecially its “manipulative editing and armsization of girls’ weaknesses” and “catalyzing body dysmorphies to eating disorders” and admitted that “the most shocking” experiences she had on the show “didn’t even do air.” But she also shared on the positive side she got “tools” that would later help her in her career, including learning to “regulate my nervous system.”
The Hitney Star revealed that she had participated in the awards ceremony, but had been absent when Banks, 51, spoke her when she had gone to the toilet. But she said she was encountering Antm Host at the photo studio – where the couple continued to have a moment.
Dacosta noted that if she had encountered banks a few years earlier, “the old one I would have felt warmth” or her “heartbeat would have rushed up” or she “would have been tense”, then “the story I had told so long is a story about trauma.”
She went on to say that she has since forgiven banks, and when she saw her for the first time in several years, “she went over and we had a beautiful conversation.” She said they had “small talk” and even “reminded” a bit.

“She told the lady that it was with her about the acting challenge at Top model With Taye Diggs and how they were, “Who she can really act like, this is not fair.” And it was just fun to remind you, as if it was actually fun, “remembered Dacosta.
The actress said that there was no bad blood between the two and that they ended their reunion with a sentimental moment.
“I just took her into an embrace … you kept that woman and when it was time for the hug to be over, I kept a little more. And I took a deep breath because I wanted her to feel what it feels like to be completely forgiven, appreciated and loved, ”she shared.

She finished her video and noted that she felt it was a “fantastic opportunity for me to finally close that chapter, because I start a new one” and that she “was finally legitimately free” from the importance of some negativity.
“I’m like, do you know what? I think it’s time for me to let everyone know that we’re good, and I want you to be good too, ”Delived Dacosta in the video. “And if there is someone in your life that you need to forgive for something, it is now a fantastic time to do it. There is no time like right now to choose freedom, compassion, love and kindness.”
“Forgiveness is not for other people, it is for us,” she added.
