Anthony Mackie reflects on their special friendship with the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
Mackie recently sat down with people along with his Turned metal costs, Stephanie Beatriz, To discuss the last season of the series, when the subject turned to Cosby show actor.
“I’m proud to say Malcom-Jamal Warner was a friend of mine,” said Mackie, 46. “He is someone I knew and spent time with and was just such a beautiful man.”
“And every time I was around him I could take full advantage of these conversations and that time. It is the most important thing for me,” he added.
Warner died in one unintentional drowning While he was on a family vacation in Costa Rica on July 20. He was 54.

Mackie went on to reflect on her time – and mentoring – with the late actor and “icon” Other braaughsthat died off lung cancer in December 2023 at the age of 61.
“Being in New York and the new child at the theater site. Having these lessons and these moments and having the communicated (of) such – at that time for me – such a icon in the industry,” he recalled.
He added, “I always say that people just take full advantage of these moments (with mentors) and really be yourself so that person can see, react and get involved in who you are and not a fictional idea of who you think they want you to be.”

Beatriz, who worked closely with braugher on hit comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine During eight seasons, her thoughts on loss also shared – as did her advice to take full advantage of the time we have with the people we love.

“Unfortunately, we all go through grief in our lives,” Beatriz, 44, and added, “and all you really have are these memories.”
“So Anthony is just right,” she added. “Coming to people in your life with the truest, most honest self as much as you can always feed memories when you lose them. And hopefully feed their memories when one day they may lose you.”
Mackie and Beatriz are currently playing together in PeaCock Original series Turned metalThe A post-apocalyptic action comedy adapted from the popular Playstation game of the same name.
