Anna Cardwell’s husband moved into a new home 14 months after her death (exclusive)

Anna Cardwell’s widow says that living in the home that the couple shared led “constant memories” of his loss.

In an exclusive interview with people, Eldridge Toney reflected on their decision to move more than a year after death by his wife.

It wasn’t a constant reminder of everything.”

“I haven’t been to the bedroom because everything was exactly how she left it,” he told People. “The last night we were actually in the bedroom the day before she decided to go to Hospice.”

“All the feelings that are tired of that room down there, especially with all her things like exactly what it was like when we were there …” he continued. “And it was just difficult to go down in the room, and I feel it was like an important thing that was kind of giving me anxiety for the house, but it was in the same sense.”

However, Toney said he knew “it was time” to put away some of Cardwell’s things.

“We have two wardrobes in the bedroom and I folded all her clothes and put it in compartments and many other things that were important to her,” he shared. “I hung up her wedding dress and closed the door.”

At that time, Toney raised that he was not ready to sleep in their bedroom again.

“I will work against it,” he said. “It’s a process but some days I just go in there and go to bed. I won’t sleep, but I only spent some time there. I will continue to spend more time in the room so that when I make the decision to sleep there it will not be so right in my face.”

The couple started dating 2017 after Cardwell’s divorce from ex-husband Michael Cardwell, with whom she welcomed daughter Kylee Madison 2015. Cardwell was also the mother of daughter Kaitlyn ElizabethBorn 2012.
