Alfonso Ribeiro is still talking to ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Costar Will Smith (exclusively)

Alfonso Ribeiro says he still keeps in touch with his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air costs Will Smith.

When reflecting on the show’s upcoming 35th anniversary when he walked the red carpet at the Disney Upfront 2025 event in New York on May 13, Ribeiro, 53, told me solely that he and Smith, 56, “talk every time in a while.”

“I talk to everyone when I can,” he adds the role in the Sitcom of the 90s. “We obviously do many different things, but there is a lot of love and 35 years is quite special.”

IN Healthy Princewhich was broadcast for six seasons from 1990 to 1996, Smith played a fictional version of himself-a street-smart teenager from West Philadelphia whose mother sends him across the country to live with his rich aunt and uncle in Bel Air, Los Angeles, after a scary confrontation during a street basket.

Ribeiro played as Carlton Banks, Wills Preppy and politically conservative cousin.

In December, Smith revealed on a section of Vice’s Black comedy in america series like Hans Bond with Ribeiro was one of the “creative relationships I have had that has completely transformed my life.”

“Where you meet someone who understands you in a way that others do not understand you – and they can understand you, then create things for you to create and shine and explode,” he explained. “And Alfonso was that guy for sure.”

Smith reminded me that Ribeiro immediately was the perfect fit for the nature of Carlton and appreciated his willingness to go for it when it comes to comic scenes.

“When he came in for the audition, it was no question, it is,” Smith said. “Nobody undertakes as hard as Alf. We call it” comic limb. “You know where you gon” try this joke and you go out there with it and you gon “risks everything.”

Ribeiro reacted to Smith’s remarks during a look on Mars Jennifer Hudson Show and reflected on their special friendship.

“It was wonderful to hear him say that. Will is my brother for life. And obviously our friendship and ties have now resisted the time of four or five decades. He is definitely the best,” Ribeiro told host Jennifer HudsonNote that he believes that the two actors together “created incredible magic that cannot be repeated” on the set Healthy Prince.

Ribeiro repeated that it was “wonderful to hear will give me some of my flowers.”

“Of course I give him flowers all the time. He is just so incredible. He is the most talented guy I know and the most devoted guy I know. So it’s mutual love,” he told Hudson, 43.

The fresh prince of bel-air – who also played the lead role James AveryJanet Hubert-White, Karyn Parsons and Tatyana Ali – Will mark the 35th anniversary for its premiere on September 10.
