Begg says she ran out on the street, stopped traffic and picked up the cat. Another woman who witnessed the accident informed the Begg that there was a veterinary clinic nearby.

“When I got there, the staff dropped everything and rushed him in the back and immediately gave him pain medicine,” reminds Begg. “The veterinarian told me they would do what they could, but it was unlikely that he would survive.”

She went back to the house in tears and played what had happened in her mind and thought the cat would be killed.

The days later, however, Geg received a voice message from the clinic and told her that the cat had survived. Despite his improved condition, they could not find his owner.

So when they asked Begg if she wanted to adopt him, she immediately said yes. Exactly a week after the traumatic incident, she and her sister drove two hours to pick him up and take him home.

“Since I took him home he has slept a lot when he recovers from the trauma,” she shares. “During the days before I picked him up, he got blood work, was vaccinated and was neutered. I have slowly introduced him to my boxer, link. They became immediate best friends.”

While the cat, as she called Lucky Chance, sits nicely, he is not completely out of the forest yet. Begg shares that he will need dental surgery after breaking a tooth in the accident.

“My focus right now is to help him gain weight, heal completely and build trust. I want him to feel safe and finally be able to rest,” shares.

Begg made one Tiktok video About the experience, and it went viral, collected over 12.5 million views. She hopes “someone in my position would stop to help.”

“I think it is our responsibility to protect all living things. Many may have assumed that he was already gone or left him along the way, but I couldn’t,” she says. “I’ve always had an extremely soft place for animals. If someone cannot help themselves, there are many animal rescue places or clinics they can call.”

“I am infinitely grateful to the veterinary staff who acted so quickly and compassion, and for anyone who has shown love for Lucky chance story. He really lives up to his name,” adds Begg.
