Kunis opens up about their incredible preparation for their role in Black swan.
Talk to Vogue In a new interview to highlight the film’s 15th anniversary 2010, the actress – which was united by Costar Natalie Portman And director Darren Aronofsky -Delated how she transformed herself to produce a professional ballerina on the screen.
“My prep was a lot of dance and very little eating – which I know you shouldn’t say, but that’s the truth. I drank a lot of broth and danced for 12 hours a day,” she told the outlet.
“We would only have three months prep before the filming started, but we lost some funding, so it was extended to six months while Darren tried to find money,” Kunis, 42, continued. “It was sucking for Darren, but Nat and I were so happy because we had three extra months to dance.”
The Luckiest Girl Alive Star also recalled how she suffered painful injuries while filming the film’s many dance scenes.

“We were going to shoot the dancing scenes for hours, and I had bruises over my ribs just from lifting over and over,” she told Vogue. “I also moved the shoulder quite early in the production and thought I was completely screwed up, but Darren sent me to an acupuncturist and I somehow came very well.”
During the interview, Portman, 44, shared the surprising story of how Kunis came to be thrown into the role of Lily, the seductive rival of Portman’s character, Nina.
“We had been friends for several years, and I remember I was at the Rose Bowl Flea market with her and talked about this ballet movie I did with Darren. Mila said: ‘I remember when I would take off my Pointe shoes …’ And I was like, ‘Wait, you made ballet?’ I immediately called Darren and said there was this amazing actress with ballet experience that would be perfect for Lily, “she remembers Vogue.
The only problem? Portman had everywhere Kuni’s experience at Pointe.
“I think I said, ‘I danced once’, and it was twisted into me after taking Pointe,” Kunis said, and got Portman to answer, “I may have exaggerated on your behalf!”
The movie, which had a modest budget of $ 13 million, continued to withdraw almost $ 330 million worldwide at checkout. Portman won the best actress Oscar for his fascinating performance.
Fans can catch the film on the big screen again for a limited time this month. August 21 and August 24, a recent remastered version of Black swan will appear on IMAX screens across the country.

Reflect on the film’s 15th anniversary, Portman said Vogue Watching the last movie for the first time for all these years ago was an “exciting” experience.
“I didn’t really understand the tone of the movie while we shot and was quite surprised what it ended up being. The first time I looked at it was shocking and exciting in a really wonderful way. I had no understanding of the extent of Darren’s vision while we did,” she said. “The success was incredible.”
