The man insists that Tween Stepsons must pay for his own hairstyles

  • A woman and her husband are in violation of her sons hairstyles
  • The man believes that the 10-year-old and 12-year-old boys should pay for their own hairstyles or continue to get free hairstyles at home
  • But their mother wants the boys to get a professional trim before school starts

A couple is “on an impasse” when their children start paying for themselves.

At Reddit, a 35-year-old woman shared that she and her 45-year-old husband have “a mixed family”, because she has a 12-year-old and a ten-year-old from a previous marriage, as well as two more children, ages 6 and 2, with her husband.

“To save some money, I have tried to teach myself to cut her hair,” she explains, noting that she also gives her husband haircut.

The question, she says, is that her two older sons have begun to ask for “bleaching” or other complicated styles, which she is “not qualified to do.”

“I have tried and failed but they are cute and tell me: ‘It’s ok. I like it.’ But really they are just nice, ”shares the woman.

When school started soon, the woman told her husband that she would like to take them to a real barbershop before the first day.

“This has caused a huge struggle for us. He thinks my boys are grateful and” high maintenance, “she writes.” That “The hairstyles are good enough for me.” As in they should fall within the same thought process. ”

“I asked at what age is it acceptable for them to have their own opinion on their haircuts? Their clothes? Their shoes? He could only give me” when they can pay for it themselves. ”

As a mother who is at home, she feels very “caught”, because she wants her child to feel “self-confidence”-especially her oldest, who has handled the bullying-but also knows that it cuts her children’s hair saves her and the family’s money.

“Do I overreact because I thought he is extremely controlling about this?” She asks Reddit. “Of course, my 10 & 12 years old have no money for their own haircuts …”

In an editing, the woman gave more context to her family dynamics and revealed that she and her husband separated earlier because he did not agree with their oldest son.

“They Mesh only … Their personalities are very different and I have left before because I did not think it was good for my son’s mental health,” she shares. “We have since collected it back and things were better. But still not good. I don’t know what to do.”

She also noted that her ex is “involved” in her sons life and that she sometimes receives child support from him.

“Bio Dad is a naked smallest parent. See them every other weekend, no more, sometimes less,” she adds. “He has to have to pay child support so he refuses to pay for everything extra.”

Still, people in the comment section told the woman that she did not overreact and that she had the right to do what was best for her children.

“Your responsibility is your children. You have given up your independence to a man who does not agree with the children you had and then gave him his own,” wrote a commentator. “Get a job or find out how to pay for the things teens need him obviously don’t want to support them. Stand up for your children!”

“Your husband is ridiculous! They are minors, and this is a basic need that their parents can pay for so that their children can feel safe in school,” commented a second person.

In another editing, the woman shared that she would create a Facebook page to sell her “Surdej/baked goods to have money.”

“I do not imagine that this will go well but it is worth a attempt to start saving money for me and my children,” she writes, noting that her boys “will come back to school haircuts.”
