Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis deliver laughter and nostalgia in Freakier FridayAccording to film critics.
The first reviews of the Disney follower, directed by Nisha Ganatra, lost Tuesday August 5, with a majority of critics that praise the film’s humor and heart, as well as the reunion of Lohan, 39 and Curtis, 66.
For two decades after their 2003 film, Lohan and Curtis recall their roles as Anna, now single mother, and Tess Coleman, a slightly engrossing grandmother. This time it is a four -way body change, with Anna’s daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and her soon stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons) who also switched.

Lenker adds that Curtis is “clear to have time in his life” in the film, and that it is “comforting to see Lohan Spark restore”: “For the first time since she returned to actions 2022 Falling to Christmas, Lohan looks like she’s having fun. Light, maturity and comic time for her children’s star are finally back in full force. ”
Indiegees Kate Er. writing That the long -awaited sequel is “worthy of waiting” and the actor’s “Joy” on the screen is “contagious”. Deadline’s Pete Hammond describes the film as a “feel good comedy mature for the times shown in the high laugh at the screening I participated in this nostalgic Disney movie that is much like Disney as it gets. ”
Writes Rachel Labonte for Reviewing: “I felt nothing but pure joy about seeing Lohan and Curtis reunited on the screen and did what they do best: give everything to a funny body change. … both actors are in perfect shape.”
Not every critic is in love with Freakier Fridaybut. Hollywood ReporterDavid Rooney felt that there is “nothing even at a distance as much fun” in the new post as the previous one, which “raised the bar” for the genre. Rooney adds, “I think I would have preferred a reworking of shots for this painfully stretched cash grab.”

Clarisse Loughrey from The Independent claims that Freakier Friday Rely on “unpleasant nostalgia”, and that Lohan and Curtis “are left to just milk nostalgia from the film’s original fanbase, while all who are 18 and below receive two chappell roan songs and some references to” safe spaces “and” gluten-free “options.”
Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw says Curtis is the highlight that “embodies the mad spirit of history.” The Oscar winner “gets laughter with his puppy unhibited performance”, writes Bradshaw, while Lohan “does a reasonable job” but “doesn’t really have the comedy chops.”
AmountS Owen Gleiberman writing That “there are some scattered moments when the laughter breaks freely” but the sequel is “is more ambitious and less funny.” Still, “The movie ends pretty moving,” says Gleiberman.
