The woman detailed her story about “Am I unreasonable?” Forum on the British-based community site mumnet.com, where women can go to seek advice on interpersonal dilemma.
In his post, as well as in a later follow -up, the original poster (OP) explained that she gave her son Hand-Me-Downs To a friend after the friend told her that her own son “grew so fast.”
OP also said that she usually donates clothes to “charity shops” and “women’s escape center” in her neighborhood, and that she would have hoped that the friend – which shows “no signs of financial problems” – would have donated the objects if she decided she did not want them.
“It’s strange to make me feel sentimental/cursed,” leaving the woman and also asked others if they were to be bothered by the situation.

“I would think it’s a little strange that they paid in on my kindness,” said a person and added, “as you say, I would rather give them to charity or someone else in need. If the objects are good enough to sell, I would at least ask the person who gave them to me if they want them back!”
“I feel it is bad Karma to earn from someone’s kindness,” someone else agreed.
Others, however, said that OP should have been clearer with her friend about her expectations when she chose to give the objects away.
“You should have said that you expected these to be forwarded. Learning,” said one person.
“You should lend and not give if you do not want the recipient to sell them. Or sell them yourself,” added someone else.
