Two young children were caught alone in a locked car that hit 117 ° F in a parking lot for the mall – until Georgia’s officers were stretched the window and pulled them to safety. Now the alleged driver is facing crime.
On June 4, Cobb County alternates responded to 911 calls about two small children who cried inside a parked vehicle outside Dick’s sports goods at Cumberland Mall, according to Fox 5 AtlantaThe KFOX 14 and Kgns news.
“I stand outside Dick’s at Cumberland Mall and there are two children in a car by themselves – young children crying,” said a 911 dial per fox 5. “The windows are cracked, but I don’t think it’s right. We just came out of Dick’s and I heard children cry.”
Body camera pictures released by Cobb County Sheriff’s Office show alternates who crush the passenger window and gently remove the children, a boy and girl, from the back seat.
In the video, the children seem dazzled and overheated, and a deputy can be heard saying, “It’s ok … Oh, you’re hot” when he loosened the young boy and pulled him off the car.

A handheld thermometer recorded the temperature inside the car as 117 ° F.
About 41 minutes after entering the mall, the driver of the car returned, identified as J’quawn Dixon, to the vehicle and was immediately detained. He left the children alone inside the vehicle while shopping, according to the arrest register quoted by the stores.
Dixon, a 27-year-old from Snellville, Ga.
Deputies later praised the spectators who intervened and wrote in a social media post: “A big thank you to the citizens concerned who called 911 … you saw something and did something.”

Dixon was booked in the Cobb County prison and released the next day after posting a bond of $ 10,000. The children were controlled by EMS at the scene and did not require hospital stay.
The case remains during investigation. No further updates to children’s custody status have been released.
According to the National Safety Council, temperatures in a parked car can rise almost 20 degrees in just 10 minutes on an 80 degree day.
