The family saves ducks from Storm Drain (exclusively)

A family goes viral to save a family of ducks on the fourth of July.

Tibi Sullivan tells people that she and her family were on their way home from a holiday celebration in her brother’s house, happy to see fireworks when it got dark. As they drove a street near their home, Sullivan’s husband saw the ducks.

“We were a street away from our house when we saw the ducks. We drove past them before I could even see them, and he decided to turn to show the children,” she tells people about her husband.

While there are ducks in their area, the family was not used to seeing them in their neighborhood, because they are not near the water.

“When we got back to the ducks, my husband noticed that Mama Duck had not moved and was still at the drain. That was when he mentioned her distress and asked me to come out and control the drain,” says Sullivan.

After coming out and taking a look down the drain, Sullivan realized that there was what seemed to be an duckling in the drain. However, when Chirps was multiplied, she realized that there must be more.

“I tried to lift the Risten with an arm to make sure it was not locked,” says Sullivan. “It was too heavy for me to lift with an arm. I would have had to rewind it. I told my husband to open it and he opened it easily.”

They needed some type of tool to get the ducks out, and they were close enough to run over and take something.

“My oldest daughter is 8 and she was the most aware of what happened. I left my husband at the ducks and jumped in the car to take a net with the children in the car,” says Sullivan.

“My oldest was on the verge of tears and told me to drive faster and said,” Nothing else means something right now, “” continues the mother. “She was afraid that Baby Ducks wouldn’t do it.”

When they returned, Sullivan’s man came to work. A neighbor saw them and “stopped their truck in the middle of the street to block the traffic.”

Everyone was relieved when the couple saved four ducks and got them back to their mother, who had been waiting nearby.

“After the rescue, all the children were happy and happy that they went to their mother,” sharing Sullivan.

When Sullivan shared the sweet moment on Tiktok, she knew people would appreciate it, but she was “shocked” about how many people it reached: 2 million and counts!

“It was nice to see so many cute comments. For us it wasn’t even a question to save the ducks or not. It didn’t even cross our senses to just leave them there,” she says.

“I feel that someone would try to help in this situation. Reading these comments that my husband is a hero and a green flag has been nice and rewarding,” she adds, “because that’s what he really is, and the kind of person he tries to be every day.”
