A 77-year-old man lost his life while trying to save a turtle on Florida’s Interstate 95 during the fourth of July the weekend, according to several reports.
The unidentified vermont native travels at I-95 through the Indian River County when he saw a tortoise on the busy motorway just before 16:30, local time Sunday July 6, according to WriggleWith reference to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The man stopped his vehicle on the high shoulder of the motorway and began to go east over the southbound lanes, according to Treasure Coast NewspapersWith reference to FHP.

As the man tried to complete the action, a 2020 Mazda CX-9 slowed down in the midfield to avoid beating him, Fox 35 reported, with reference to FHP.
However, a 2020 Dodge 3500 pickup, which also travels in the middle line, failed to slow down in time and hit the first vehicle.
The collision caused Mazda to be pushed away from the road and into a fence. The 77-year-old man was then beaten by Dodge and was thrown on the left shoulder, Miami Herald reported, with reference to FHP.
His relatives were on stage when he gave in to his injuries, the magazine reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No damage was reported to the passengers in the other vehicles.
The pickup was run by a 53-year-old man from Port St. Lucie, while SUV was run by a 44-year-old woman from Miami and had a 49-year-old man from Miami as a passenger, according to Treasure Coast Newspapers.
