“Their mother was previously a FLDS member,” Jennifer Fullmer told, a public information manager at Sheriff’s Office, People at that time. “She was banished and had to leave the children there. And when she finally got custody of them, she brought them back to her hometown Monteview.”

“We think that (her child) wanted to go back to the FLDs lifestyle,” she added.

The authorities do not believe that the children simply went off on their own and instead suspect that they were assisted by members of their former church.

“There are no buses,” Fullmer told People. “There are no trains. It is out in the middle of the desert. Mom’s faith is that someone from the FLDs picked up the children.”

The FLDS Church is a polygamist sect run by Warren Jeffs, the self-proclaimed prophet and convicted pedophile. In 2011, Jeffs was sentenced on two bills of sexual abuse against children and sentenced to life in prison.

Fullmer stated that the authorities issued an Amber Alert on June 23 after learning a revelation in 2022 by Jeffs.

“What the information we got was about this revelation that the children should gather to help build Zion so that they can die and become clean and translated beings,” she said. “We have no concept when (or) how fast children should gather and be brought back to the church so that they can die and become pure creatures.”

People were enough for Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, as did the Uvalde Foundation for Kids, for comments on Saturday, July 5, but did not receive an immediate response.
