Man open fire in Sunday service

After a man opened fire at a Sunday service in Michigan, a church deacon and security guard went in to stop him.

On the morning of June 22, there was an active shooter in Crosspoint Community Church in Wayne, a suburb in Detroit, according to a spokesman for the Wayne Police Department (WPD). A church security guard shot and killed the attacker before officers arrived at the scene, spokesman told People.

The security guard had time to aim at Sagittarius-as the police identified himself as a 31-year-old white male-efters, as a deacon ran him, according to the pastor, who was on the scene.

The attacker was “run over by one of our members who saw this happen when he entered the church,” said Senior Pastor Bobby Kelly Jr. Detroit News. The deacon ran over the attacker in a Ford F-150 truck, the outlet reported.

Only one person who identified as a Detroit News as a security guard was injured in the attack on June 22. According to the local outlet, the shooter fired several shots into the church, but did not enter the building, where Kelly estimated that 150 people gathered.

Footage From a live stream of the service – who had more children present than usual, Per Kelly – shows the moment when inside the church became aware of the attack.

“Go down,” someone can be heard to say when people started climbing. “Everyone on the back. Please, everyone, comes on the back,” says another church leader and directs the group on the back of the building.

In the wake of the attack, Kelly told Detroit News that Crosspoint Community Church members support each other, and the children present for the attack June 22 are “doing well.”

When it comes to the way forward, the pastor said: “We will convene our leadership to put a formal plan in place for the aftermath.”

The pastor also said that the attacker did not seem to be a member of the church.

The investigation of the shooting is “ongoing with several agencies on stage”, a WPD spokesman told People and added that the police will share more information on the evening of June 22.
