The cause of death was revealed to dedicated couples found dead in the lake: reports

The cause of death for a committed couple found dead in a lake in Georgia has been revealed.

Joycelyn Nicole Wilson and Gary Jones’ Boat was found empty at Lake Oconee on February 8th. People reported earlier Wilson’s body was recovered the day after, but Jones’s body was not found until a month later on March 9th, Per CBS newswith reference to Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to NBC Affiliate WXIA-TV and Fox 5 AtlantaWith reference to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills, their deaths were ruled as unintentional drownings. The investigation of their deaths has been closed by WXIA TV.

The outlets reported that the couple celebrated Jones’s 50th birthday at that time. Sills previously told WXIA TV That Wilson, a 49-year-old instructor at Spelman College in Atlanta, and Jones, a track and field coach for a local private school, had checked into a hotel near the lake for Jones’s birthday on February 8.

Shortly after Wilson’s body was found, one of her childhood friends told us CBS AFFILIATE WANF that the couple attended Clark Atlanta University together and had got engaged after reconnecting.

People have reached Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Putnam County Coroner for comments.

Wilson and Jones ’12 -Hots boat were found as circled near Wallace Dam and discovered by other boating vessels, Sills said earlier, Per WXIA-TV. The boat later turned out to have beaten a jetty, the Sills added.

The outlet also reported that Jones shoes were found floating about 15 meters apart near the shoreline on February 10.

“I cannot remember such extensive use of government and civilian personnel and resources for an incident like this on Lakes Oconee and Sinclair for the past 40 years,” Sills said before continuing to thank everyone involved in the operation.

“Finally, until I can formulate a more accurate list to identify everyone, please let me express my gratitude to everyone who has worked tirelessly during the past three weeks in this difficult endeavor,” Sills continued. “I also want to thank the many people and companies that graciously brought food and drink for everyone. It was very welcome and makes me very proud of our society.”
