As a member of Superstar K-Pop group and recently A solo artistJ-Hope, 31, has ease with ease from the energetic pop of “trivia: just dance” and “outro: ego” to the dirty rap-rock on 2022’s unexpectedly wild Jack in the box, To the trio of Swaggy, all-English hip-hop tracks on his upcoming project, Charm of hopeout July 11.

The artistic plasticity is partly thanks to a simple guiding principle that speaks to the rapper, the singer, the dancer and the producer’s decade-plus in the industry and a new sense of maturity that he has recently unlocked.

All three songs have themes of new romance, something else that is new in J-hopes repertoire. His latest, “Killin ‘it girl”, is “about an emotional rush and magnetic move towards someone,” he explains. “So I would like it to feel bold, sensual and have the type of energy that makes you want to play the track for repetition.”

The glorilla function, he says, was a natural extension of it. “More recently, I have been particularly drawn to artists whose powerful presence really stands out,” he says. “I was convinced that Glorilla’s presence on the track would give exceptional synergy.”
