There is no doubt Barry Manilow is one of the largest living entertainers of our time. From its humble beginning in New York, to his short stint as a jingle writer, to chart-top dance and love songs, the man is an incomparable artist who writes the songs that makes the whole world sing (as he put it). Barry Alan Pincus was born on June 17, 1943 to Harold Pincus and Edna Manilow in Brooklyn, New York. As his parents divorced when he was young and he grew up by his single mother, he adopted her virgin last name instead.
His love for music bloomed early, when Manilow took on accordion and piano as a child. He would later sign up for the New York College of Music (now part of NYU) and go to Juilliard School of Music to fine -tune his talents.

During his university years, Manilow worked in the postroom at CBS. This is where he met director Bro Herrod, who recruited him to arrange some songs for the musical adaptation of the piece The drunk. Due to his talent and sharp ear for music, Manilow ended to write the full point for the production.
In the 1960s, Manilow also found success as a jingle writer. In fact, musicians are responsible for some of Prisonest phrases that top companies still use today -State Farm’s “Like a good Nariena, State Farm is there” as well as band-Aid “I’m stuck on band help for band support on me”, for example.
Other successful jingles include KFC’s “Grab a Hocket of Chicken”, Pepsis “Feelin ‘Free” and McDonald’s “You deserve a break today.”

In 1971, Manilow started working with Bette Midler after the two performed a show together at Continental Baths in New York City. Their musical chemistry was so strong that he finished coproducing her first two albums and was nominated for a Grammy for his work at The Divine Miss M.
Manilow released their first solo album Barry Manilow in and Barry Manilow II 1973 and 1974 respectively. The latter was a smash here thanks to its single “Mandy” that topped the lists.
He followed it up with several albums that produced hit singles like “I write the songs” from the 1975 Try to get the feeling, ”Looks like we did it ”from the 1976 This one is for you And of course the generally popular, Grammy-award-winning, “Copacabana (at COPA)” outside the 1978s Already.

Barry Manilow is not just a Grammy award-winning musician.
In 1977 he took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Comedy Variety or Music for Barry Manilow Special which was broadcast at ABC the same year. The show was also nominated for outstanding writing in a comedy variety or music special.
Manilow was nominated for two more Emmys in 1978, before leaving his second trophy for outstanding individual performance in a variety or music program for the 2006 Barry Manilow: Music and Passion, which was broadcast on PBS.

The award -winning multihyfenate is depicted during his 100th “Manilow: Music and Passion” show at Las Vegas Hilton in 2005. He began his residence in the hotel in February 2005 and it was extended to 2008.
In 2009 he moved his residence to Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino and he has performed there since. This year, musicians will be celebrates its 14th year at the prestigious facilityLike his 50th anniversary as a recording artist.

Manilow married his high school darling Susan Deixler shortly after the two graduation, but as He told people In 2017, “I was just not ready for marriage” at that time. The two were separated after one year.
Love took a rear seat when he persecuted his career, until Manilow met TV -operating director Garry Kief in 1978. Although he knew Kief was it, Manilow held his relationship under cover not only because he is a private person, but also because he was afraid of letting his fans.
“I thought I would be a disappointment if they knew I was gay,” he remembered. “So I never did anything.”
But when the news about their news in 2014 came out, there was nothing more than a wave of support from his dedicated followers. “When they found out that Garry and I were together they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful – strangers who commented: ‘Good for you!’ I’m just so grateful for that. ”

The show was a special occasion, as it was one of five special performances that he would give on the historic arena for the first time in 11 years.

On April 14, 2025, Manilow announced that he hit the road one last time with a string of Farewell performances Throughout the United States this summer. In addition to the show, which ends on July 20, he will also resume his residence at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino where he has exhibitions planned until December.
“Its A bitter -cute experience for me because i know i won’t come back here and (fans) know i will not come back here, he told Message board of his tour. “And when I’m done and say” goodbye “it’s goodbye.”
